Kate Maher at the Terrace

As part of Winter Wander, Glitterbox Pursuits presents Nymphs and Vixen, two works from Kate Maher, on display in Shands Lane at the Terrace from 3-11 August.

Installed in vinyl on large windows, Kate Maher’s collages have been scaled up dramatically, revealing interesting details and textures in the source material.

Maher has a background in film theory and completed her BA(Hons) at the University of Canterbury. She started collaging in 2017, using books from second-hand stores and a glue stick. She had her first solo exhibition at Art Hole Gallery in May 2019 (Space Girl: and other Works) and has since been focusing on creating works which explore the notion of reverie. Her body of work is thematically and visually consistent; Maher explores myth, plays on cultural iconography and archaic types, and finds rich inspiration in depictions of nature - whether it be volcanic eruptions, outer space, or the female body.
